A centuries-old bazaar famous for silver jewelry, perfumes, and Mughal-era charm.
Dariba Kalan, located near Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, is one of the city’s oldest and most enchanting bazaars. Its name comes from Persian, meaning street of incomparable pearls. Established during the Mughal era in the 17th century, it was once a thriving market for precious stones, gold, and silver, frequented by nobles and royalty.
Today, Dariba Kalan is best known as Delhi’s largest silver market, with shops offering exquisite jewelry, ornaments, and artifacts at competitive prices. The bazaar is also famous for attar (traditional perfumes), which are still sold in small glass bottles, carrying forward centuries-old traditions. Walking through its narrow lanes, visitors experience the vibrant atmosphere of Old Delhi, with its mix of history, commerce, and culture.
Early morning hours are recommended, as temperatures are cooler and crowds fewer. Certain areas may temporarily restrict access during prayer times.

Dariba Kalan is located in Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi, close to Jama Masjid and Red Fort. The nearest metro station is Chandni Chowk (Yellow Line), from where the market is a short walk or rickshaw ride.
As a public market, there are no formal rules, but visitors should respect local customs. Bargaining is common, so be prepared to negotiate prices. Cash is often preferred, though some shops accept digital payments.
The lanes are narrow and crowded, so wear comfortable shoes and keep personal belongings secure. Be mindful of pickpockets in busy areas. If buying silver, ensure authenticity by checking hallmark certification. For perfumes and attar, choose shops with good reputations. Visiting in the morning or late afternoon is ideal to avoid peak crowds.
